Soon, Žilina will transform into a hub of music, culture, and entertainment. This year’s Old Town Festival, taking place over three days—specifically May 28–30, 2026, will bring a unique atmosphere to the city, courtesy of bands such as Billy Barman, No Name, Polemic, Buty, Vesna, and the popular Dara Rolins. The concerts will be complemented by interesting accompanying activities, an enticing selection of vendors, and a special program dedicated to International Children’s Day.
This year, for the first time, the newly established Mestská kultúra Žilina center will be organizing the three-day event. “This year will be special, as it marks the 30th anniversary of the festival. We are preparing a special program with enhanced technical support, attractive visuals, and a lineup full of major headliners. We believe that everyone will find a reason in the program to come to the city center and experience the unique atmosphere,” said Lucia Šimo, manager of events, projects, and collaborations at Mestská kultúra Žilina.
Na dvoch pódiách v centre mesta – na Mariánskom námestí a Námestí Andreja Hlinku – sa predstavia viaceré populárne kapely a interpreti. Okrem spomenutých medzi účinkujúcimi nebudú chýbať napríklad Peter Bič Projekt, Fragile, Hrdza, Arzén a veľa ďalších. Organizátori zároveň pozývajú aj na zaujímavý sprievodný program. „Za pozornosť stojí napríklad elektronický stage na Tržnici Žilina, ktorý rozšíri žánrovú pestrosť slávností a poskytne priestor pre modernú klubovú scénu. Podujatie sa nebude konať len na dvoch námestiach v centre. Tento rok sa doň opäť zapojí širší okruh kultúrnych inštitúcií pôsobiacich na území mesta – či už formou sprievodného programu alebo afterparties. Návštevníci sa tak môžu zabávať aj po skončení hlavného programu,“ priblížila detaily Lucia Šimo.
The Old Town Festival will also feature the popular opening ceremony in the form of a festive parade. During the event, visitors will find stalls selling interesting goods, seasonal craft markets, gingerbread, and a variety of refreshments throughout the city. As in previous years, purchased beverages will be served in returnable cups.
