Carnival is one of the most joyful traditions of the year – a time when the city is transformed into a stage full of masks, music, and good cheer.
This year, Fašiangy will once again bring color, energy, and the aroma of traditional delicacies to the center of Žilina. Come enjoy the parade, meet the masked characters, and experience the Fašiangy program right in the heart of the city.
The event is intended for all age groups – families with children, young people, and seniors. Just come, join the parade, watch the performances, and soak up the atmosphere that is an integral part of carnival.

Parade of masks
2:30 p.m. – start of the parade
Starting point: from the Municipal Office in Žilina
The parade of masks will set off from the area in front of the City Hall and, accompanied by the energy of the carnival, will move to the center. You can look forward to a variety of masks, music, and "live" characters that will create a unique atmosphere in the streets of the city.
Program at Marian Square
After the parade, the carnival atmosphere will move to Mariánske námestie, where the program will continue:
3:15 p.m. » Welcome of the Dragon and Queen
4:00 p.m. » Performance by folk ensembles and burial of the bass
For a while, Mariánske Square will become the focal point of the carnival celebrations – a place where traditional elements meet urban energy and where everyone can find something to suit them: from a quick stop to watch the program to a full afternoon of entertainment.

The parade and program will be complemented by masks and performers who will create a characteristic carnival atmosphere and provide unforgettable moments. You can look forward to:

There will also be food stands offering pork specialties, hot drinks, fresh pastries, and fragrant sweet gingerbread.
